Tutorial 2 AGGRESSIVE MAIDS IN MALAYSIA

Aggressive Maids in Malaysia

Maids are indeed are indeed popular because of their issues nowadays. Babies were abused and most of the cases were fatal. Maids employed by Malays are mostly Indonesian whereas the Chinese and Indians could employ Vietnamese, Burmese or Indonesian. These three types of citizens are mostly the popular among all of the maids but the most problematic is the Indonesian maids.

The latest case of child abuse by the maids was the baby was slapped and dump from the back of maid to the tile. The employers were Malays and the maid was Indonesian citizen. The baby was traumatized and thank god it was not fatal. After investigation, the maid was found guilty and surprisingly, the hospital report shows that the maid is emotionally unbalanced. First thing that keep buzzing my heart is, how can the Indonesian government allow such worker to work out of their country especially as maid? Were there any thorough procedure or they just send their civilian in order to reduce their population in the country? The video captures by the CCTV in the house has proved the maid was intentionally abused by the maid.

The baby was 4-month-old at the time he was abused, and the maid was 24 years old. The incident is considered as lucky to me since the parents noticed the action at 7.45 am in the morning while eating breakfast at a stall. There were more unfortunate incidents where the babies were not able to survive the injuries, mostly internal injuries. However, the Indonesia government keeps pursuing their maids’ salary up to one salary per job, which is for me personally, unrealistic! Plus with the mess caused by their citizens, the salary is still way too expensive.

In a nutshell, the Indonesian government should take this issue into account since this could be really tangled if it is not taken care thoroughly. If their party provides us with good services, the rising salary could be adjusted, vice versa. So, it will all be equal and we can preserve our good relationship with each other since we are indeed, a neighbor and interdependent with each other.
